In general it is wise to check the timestamp on the website for when the images were gathered, because it always shows their modification date. If the modification date doesn't match the current day and time then don't use the images to gauge conditions. Use the weather instrument data and other weather information sources to determine the conditions when the camera is offline.
The camera is located on the roof of the Gilead Sciences building at 303 Velocity Way, at the NorthEast corner.
The network camera images are currently being updated (12 matrix images plus 28 panoramic images) cyclically, approximately every 5 minutes from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm during the kiteboarding season.
The matrix of twelve images and panoramic shot show the conditions across the street from Gilead. All of the images are taken by our AXIS P5655E, a PTZ network camera purchased by the local community of sailboarders and kiteboarders, and maintained now by Jack Hodges. Currently the camera is taking 40 pictures in sequence and uploading them all at once. The first 12 images are the matrix you see on the home page. The remaining 28 (two rows of 14 images) are stitched into a panoramic image using Montage. It isn't the prettiest 'stitch' because the language we use to control the camera doesn't support exact positioning with respect to the image frame, but the quality of the images are so improved that it doesn't matter. You will undoubtedly notice color differences across the panoramic. This is because the camera optimizes color and lighting for each image so when they are stitched together they show the differences. I am looking into how to make this better.
